Men’s Jewelry Promotion SALE, Updates and Makeup Look!

Greetings, people who like makeup and beautiful stuff :), which is basically anyone who’s reading this in my book.

I’ve been away for months because of school – it’s been busy!

Updates since I last posted:

1). BLUE CANYON CORNER ON ETSY! Men’s jewelry on sale.

I actually re-started a jewelry business on Etsy called “Blue Canyon Corner”. 🙂 Right now, I’m having a buy one get one free re-opening sale, and right now I’m working tons of jewelry for men, so if you have a special rooster (boyfriend/husband/good male friend) in your life, send me a message and I’ll give you 2 pieces of jewelry for only $15 (each piece is originally worth around $25 so you’re essentially saving $35 and getting an extra free piece).

Link to my store:

2). I’ve started drawing again! I love drawing self-portraits of people and will be posting pics of my work.

3). I finally decided to splurge on Charlotte Tilbury 😉

I bought 3 lipsticks from Charlotte Tilbury over the course of 4 months and am obsessed with the shades Birken Brown, Glastonberry, and Kim K.W. I also got the Wonder Glow, which I love. It gives you the right amount of Glow without looking too shimmery.

4). I got a new cat named Chewy! He was named by his previous owner after Chewbaca from Star Wars and acts just like a dog! 🙂

5). I took Philosophy at school and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist Review

Hello Lovelies!

Today I will be reviewing the Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist. This is a lightweight mist-on moisturizer that intensely hydrates parched skin. It contains hylauronic acid, black oat, provitamin A, vitamins B 1, B2 and B6, as well as linoleic acid. The hylauronic acid plumps your skin by trapping in moisture, similar to glycerin, the primary ingredient in my beloved men’s aftershave balm. This mist can be applied in the morning before makeup, as it acts as a primer by prepping your skin, at night or anytime of the day for a fresh burst of hydration.

Here are my thoughts on the Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist:

When I first sprayed this onto my skin, I was swept away by the intoxicating scent – it smells like a beautiful garden, a spa, and a vacation all in one. I am absolutely obsessed with the scent! Pixi should really consider making it into a fragrance, which I’m sure would be sold out within minutes!

As for the effectiveness of this product, it really is amazing. I feel like this should be a luxury, high-end product. It really moisturizes your skin, while providing it with a healthy and radiant glow. However, I wouldn’t use this as a moisturizer alone, particularly if you have dry skin like me, because this is a very lightweight product. I would use this in conjunction with a daily moisturizer. In addition, it also makes an excellent makeup setting spray, and reawakens your makeup throughout the day, keeping it fresh and flawless. I regularly carry this wonderful mist in my purse and spray it onto my face throughout the day.

Overall, I highly recommend this product and feel like it would work on every type of skin. You will not be disappointed!

Have you given this product a try? If so, what are your thoughts? I’d love to know!

Bye for now,

Bare Minerals, Estee Lauder and Benefit Review

Hello Lovelies!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. My boyfriend’s birthday is on Monday, and we’re probably going to head to the Griffith Observatory in Hollywood, and maybe grab some sushi.

Today I will be reviewing three products that I’m currently using – Bare Minerals Ready Luminizer Duo in “The Love Affair”, and “The Shining Moment”, the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer and Benefit’s Dandelion Brightening Powder. Here are my thoughts:

The Bare Minerals Ready Luminizer Duo is a highlighting set. The shade “The Love Affair” is a soft baby pink, while “The Shining Moment” is a goldish-champagne shade. I really like this duo – it is highly pigmented and does an excellent job in highlighting your face, providing it with a gorgeous champagne glow. This luminizing veil is also not too shimmery, which is a bonus. Overall, I was pretty pleased with this product.

The Estée Lauder concealer shade I picked up was in the shade light/medium or warm. This concealer did an excellent job providing my skin with coverage. However, if you have dry skin like I do, it would be a good idea to apply extra moisturizer and primer before you apply this concealer, as it can appear a bit patchy if you have dry skin, particularly around the nose. Other than that, it provides effective coverage and I feel like it makes your skin appear more vibrant, which is a great quality in a concealer.

Benefit’s Brightening powder is definitely a win. It brightens your complexion, causing it to look vibrant, fresh and more awake. It also adds a lovely pinkish hue to your face. I feel like this powder would be a perfect finishing touch for a wedding. I’m really impressed with this powder!

So there you have it!

Bye for now,

It’s giveaway time! I will be having giveaways each Friday with products from Urban Decay, Too Faced, Hourglass, Buxom, Fresh, Evan Healy and more. So come by and check them out!

Today I will be giving away a Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Tint. This is a multi-purpose product that provides lips with a natural hint of color while moisturizing parched pouts. It also contains a nourishing blend of precious oils that will really pamper your lips. I personally love this lip tint/balm and use it on a regular basis. Fresh really has a way of making you feel pampered!

I’m also giving away three Soaptopia handmade soaps that I recently bought from Gelson’s. The first one is called “Moon Magic” – it is one of my absolute favorites! I like to use these soaps on my face, body and hands. “Moon Magic” contains a blend of rosewood, tea tree, lemon, bitter almond and mystic white mica. The second soap I’ll be giving away is called “Pepperlyptus REX”, and it contains peppermint and eucalyptus. The third soap is called “Rosewood”, and it contains a luxurious blend of fir needle, black spruce, French green clay and rosewood. This soap is perfect for your complexion! It also smells lovely.

The rules of this giveaway are simple – just leave a comment with your personal opinion on handmade soaps. I will then use a tool to select a random winner.

Fall Makeup Routine

Hello there, Lovelies!

Fall is finally here, and I’m so excited for the season! I’m a big fan of Fall festivities, including Halloween and Thanksgiving and absolutely love decorating my home for the holidays. You can get some really cool decorations from Target, as well as the dollar store.

Another fun part about the Fall season is experimenting with a wide array of makeup looks, and incorporating orange-hued eye shadows into your eye makeup routine, as well as playing with gorgeous, vampy shades of lipstick.

Here are the products I use for one of my favorite Fall looks:

I start off by cleansing with Clean and Clear’s Morning Burst cleanser. This cleanser is amazing. It really wakes up your face! It contains caffeine to perk up your complexion, and is also a gentle exfoliator. Next, I exfoliate (normally about 3-4 times a week, or more, depending on my skin’s condition and dryness) with Nip + Fab’s Glycolic Fix exfoliator. This is an intense exfoliator, and isn’t meant for the faint of heart. It really burns! However, it gives your skin amazing results, reducing your blemishes and improving your entire complexion.

I also like to apply a good face mask 2-3 times a week, since my skin is on the drier side and needs an additional kick of moisture. I’m currently obsessed with this Oxygen Peach Bubble Mask – I picked it up at the dollar store and it is amazing. It really moisturizes your skin, and prevents your makeup from looking patchy.

For my toner, I actually use a combination of two – Pixi’s Glow Tonic and Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir. These really wake up your complexion while diminishing blemishes. I also use Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir as a setting spray. I love this toner because it really is like a strong cup of coffee for your face.

Next, I moisturize. I currently use a combo of moisturizers – Pixi Glowtion Day Dew, as well as Dr Hauschka’s Rose Light Day Cream. I love the scents of these two moisturizers. Pixi’s Glowtion Day Dew has a subtle lavender scent while Dr Hauschka’s Rose Light Day Cream has a fresh, herbal scent that smells like you just visited the spa. I love how the Glowtion Day Dew illuminates your skin, providing it will a radiant, healthy glow. It also makes an excellent primer.

My moisturizing doesn’t end there! I also use men’s aftershave balm. If you read my previous post on how to avoid foundation from looking flaky and caked-on, I mentioned that this is a perfect remedy for dry skin. This aftershave balm keeps makeup from looking patchy.

After my skincare routine, I follow by applying Dior’s concealer. I like how this concealer is a multi-purpose product, and also works as a primer. If you have dry skin like I do, you’ll need all the priming you can get.

I follow by applying Laura Mercier’s Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer in “Bisque”. I love the sheer, lightweight formulation of this product. It also makes your skin dewy and gorgeous. I previously would use Make Up For Ever’s HD Foundation, but recently ran out. 😦 I need to restock on it!

After applying tinted moisturizer, I begin applying my eye makeup. I’m currently loving Kat Von D’s Shade + Light Contour Eye Shadow Quad. It has a beautiful orange shade that is perfect for Fall, as it resembles a vibrant pumpkin patch. Love this quad! I only wish the pink base shade was a bit more pigmented.

For eyeliner, I love Marc Jacobs. However, I try not to waste it, so for my everyday look, I use NYX Skinny Eye Liner Marker in Black.

I finish off the eye makeup with a few layers of Lancôme CILS primer, and Definicils mascara in black. The primer is amazing – it really makes your lashes look miles long.

I like to keep my contouring low-key, so I sweep Benefit’s Hoola bronzer onto my cheekbones and a bit onto my forehead. I am obsessed with this bronzer – I love how it has a matte texture, as overly shimmery bronzers tend to appear too obvious for my taste. I also apply the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer onto my cheekbones and all over my face for a radiant glow. I am obsessed with the Lighting Bronzer! I love how it provides your skin with the perfect amount of glow without being overly shimmery.

For highlighting, I sweep on Too Faced Candlelight Glow above my cheekbones, onto my forehead and chin, over the bridge of my nose and a bit all over my face for a soft, radiant glow. Occasionally, I also use the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector.

Next come the lippies. I start off by moisturizing my lips with 29 by Lydia Mondavi’s lip balm or Dior’s Creme De Rose. For Fall, it seems like everyone is digging the vampy reds, and so am I! I’m currently obsessed with Nars’ Cruella. I’m also digging Tarte’s Tarteist Lip Paints in the shades “Spicy” and “Juicy”. I will definitely be including these Lip Paints in my future giveaways! 🙂

For my Fall fragrance, I’m currently loving the Tory Burch rollerball. It smells so fresh and sophisticated!

So there you have it! These are the makeup/beauty products that I incorporate into my Fall makeup routine to create a pretty Autumn look. What are some products you like to incorporate into your Autumn beauty routine? I’d love to know! 🙂

Bye for now,

Pixi Glow Tonic and Glowtion Day Dew Review

Hello lovelies!

I hope you’ve had a lovely Tuesday. Today I am going to write a review on Pixi’s Glow Tonic and Glowtion Day Dew. I recently picked up the two from Target, and couldn’t wait to try them, particularly the Glow Tonic, as I have noticed it has become quite a popular staple among beauty bloggers.

1). Pixi Glow Tonic

I had been dying to try this facial toner for quite some time now, given its popularity and positive reviews. This toner is amazing! It really makes your skin glow, providing it with a radiant, healthy dewy finish. It also smells uniquely fresh – I really liked the smell! The scent added a great kick to this product. I will definitely be purchasing this one again – I am hooked!

2). Glowtion Day Dew

This moisturizing Day Dew is simply amazing. It illuminates skin, providing it with a radiant glow, and can even be used as a subtle highlighter for a natural looking glow. I like using this product as a primer, as it helps makeup set and blend well. It also has a delightful lavender scent, making it a real treat for your skin. Again, I will certainly be purchasing this product again.

So there you have it!

Much Love,

Monday Favorites and Future Giveaway Info

Hello Lovelies!

I hope your weekends were as lovely as you! I had the chance to visit Venice Beach this weekend, to soak in the healthy fresh air before it start getting colder. I also had the chance to visit the mall, as well as Target and picked up a few new items. I also got a few samples of La Mer’s The Moisturizing Soft Lotion from Neiman Marcus, which made me leap with joy. I would never be able to afford this kind of luxury product! Here are some beauty products that I’m currently loving right now:

1). Pixi Glowtion Day Dew

This is my current favorite foundation base. It moisturizes, nourishes and illuminates your skin, while giving you a healthy, dewy glow. Sometimes I even wear it alone, without makeup, as it blurs imperfections and graces your complexion with a healthy  boost of radiance.

2). Dior Creme De Rose Lip Plumping Lip Balm

I am currently loving this balm – not only does it hydrate parched pouts, but it also plumps your lips. The lip-plumping effect isn’t dramatic, but it’s there. It also smells like a beautiful, delicate rose, and is perfectly kissable! 🙂

3). Nars Lipstick in “Gipsy”

This is one of my all-time favorite shades of lipsticks. It’s a gorgeous, subtle light red, and I feel like it would look gorgeous on every skin tone. I love Nars lipsticks in general, but no matter which new shade I try, I always end up crawling back to this one like a roach lol.

4). Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer

I am so obsessed with this bronzer! It almost reminds me of Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector. This bronzer can be used to contour, but I usually just apply it all over my face for a healthy, radiant glow. I feel like it is a bit too light for contouring (for my skintone), so I will stick to Benefit’s Hoola bronzer for sculpting, but will use this for a hint of radiant shimmer all over my face.

5). NYX Q10 Renew Skin Elixir

This skin elixir also makes a wonderful primer, and I feel like it also helps with blemishes. NYX’s Q10 Renew Skin Elixir contains the coenzyme Q10, which encourages vibrant, healthy looking skin. I ususally slather this all over my face after moisturizing, or just skip moisturizing and use this as a replacement. It really does wonders for your skin, especially for being a drugstore brand.

6). La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion

I was recently given two of La Mer’s The Moisturizing Soft Lotion samples during a trip to Neiman Marcus. I became instantly obsessed! This is a lightweight lotion that is perfect for those with oily or problem skin. It is easily absorbed, and makes an excellent primer. A little really goes a long way with this one!

7). Buxon Blush in “Breathless”

This blush is wonderful. I love how it’s not too heavy – it provides a subtle wash of color that looks very natural. I will be including this blush in my future giveaways!

8). Kirkland Foundation Brush

I recieved a set of Kirkland brand brushes for Christmas last year (this is a Costco brand) and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these blushes, particularly the foundation brush. This brush allows you to apply your foundation like a pro! It makes makeup super blendable, resulting in a natural-looking, seamless finish.

So there you have it! These are the products I’m currently loving right now!

I will be having giveaways every Friday – these giveaways will include products from Urban Decay, Too Faced, Hourglass, Buxom, Evan Healy, StriVectin, Dr. Hauschka, Clinique and more. So feel free to enter for a chance to win some awesome new beauty treats!

Much Love,

My Favorite Skincare Products

Hello beauty aficiandos!

Fall is here, the air is getting drier, and skincare routines are becoming more high-maintenance. When it comes to skincare, there are a few products that I actually swear by. My skin is on the dry side, so I completely get the importance of good quality skincare. A proper moisturizer has the power to transform skin from being dull and flaky, to hydrated, dewy, glowy and perfect. My favorite skincare products range from toner to exfoliator. With that being said, here are 3 skincare products that I absolutely love!

1). Evan Healy Blue Chamomile Day Moisturizer

This moisturizer is super rich, creamy and luxurious. It is a bit heavy for those who have oily skin, but dry-skin-gals like myself will come to love this moisturizer. I discovered this product from my aunt, who looks incredibly young at the age of 47. This creamy moisturizer contains blue chamomile, carrot seed, organic lavender, artisian-distilled yarrow flower and leaf, green tea, elderberry flower extract, calendula, and argan, jojoba and sunflower oils. This moisturizer is perfect for those who want to boost their skin with a surge of moisture.

2). La Mer The Lifting Contour Serum

This serum is amazing. It literally contours your face! It contains a blend of a special formulation used by La Mer, called “The Miracle Broth”, as well as other skin-boosting ingredients that slim the jawline and generally make your face appear thinner. It also makes an excellent primer.

3). Caudalie Beauty Elixir

I absolutely love this stuff, and use it both as a toner, as well as a setting spray. It is inspired by Queen Isabelle of Hungary’s Elixir of Youth. It is formulated with moisturizers like rosemary oil to simultaneously moisturize your skin.

So there you have it! These skincare products are absolutely divine and will definitely pamper your skin.

Much Love,

How to Prevent Makeup from Looking Flaky

Hello Love Doves!

The season of dry, flaky skin is approaching, and there is nothing more frustrating than the appearance of flaky, caked-on makeup. I actually suffer from this issue. I used to have dewy, flawless skin, and everyone would complement me on it – until one day. I suffered from a major breakout on my face, and after a trip to a dermatologist, who informed me that it was stress-induced and prescribed me antibiotics, as well as acne cream, the breakout cleared up, but left me with dry, flaky, patchy skin. After that, applying foundation/concealer, even super-hydrating tinted moisturizers like Laura Mercier’s cult-classic became a nighmare. My skin would end up looking horrendous, and my boyfriend even asked me, “Have you forgot how to apply makeup?” Needless to say, it was humilating. However, after doing some research, I found ways to combat this problem, and now my foundation appears smooth, even and flake-free. So, if any of you suffer from dry, flaky skin that results in the appearance of caked-on foundation, here are some very helpful tips that will allow your facial makeup to appear flawless.

1). Exfoliate

Before I had the problem with extra dryness, I never used to exfoliate. Exfoliating will remove the layer of dead skin that is causing your makeup to appear flaky, revealing a smooth, clear surface of fresh skin. Exfoliating can do wonders for your skin. I now exfoliate 3-4 times a week, using either St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub or Nip + Fab Glycolic Scrub Fix.

2). Always Moisturizer before Applying Foundation

This may seem like a no-brainer, but moisturizing is an effective way to combat dry, flaky skin. Just make sure not to use a petroleum-based moisturizer, as this will just sit on your skin without being properly absorbed. I love Nip + Fab’s Kale Fix Moisturizer because it is easily absorbed by your skin and has many skin-healing properties. Also, look for ultra-hydrating serums, like Evan Healy’s Rosehip Treatment Facial Serum.

evanhealy_rosehip_treatment_facial_serum_blue_large_23). Use Men’s Aftershave Balm

Yes – you read that correctly! Men’s aftershave balm has the power to dramatically moisturize your skin. In fact, Nivea Men’s Sensitive Post Shave Balm has been dubbed as the world’s best foundation primer by a wide array of beauty experts. Men’s aftershave balm is intensely moisturizing and is absorbed very easily by your skin. It contains a high concentrate of glycerin, which is a skin-binding agent. This explains why it makes such an effective foundation base. I swear, after using aftershave balm, I was able to apply my foundation without any unsightly flaking or caking. If you have dry, flaky skin, you should definitely give this remedy a shot.

4). Use Beauty Tools Instead of your Fingers

Whenever you have dry skin and apply your makeup with your fingers, it usually doesn’t blend very well. With that being said, opt to use a beauty tool instead, like a brush or beauty blender. I recently picked up a beauty blender and can definitely see what the fuss is about. This tool blends your makeup like an absolute pro!

5). Use a Mask

If you have dry and flaky skin, consider applying a face mask at least a couple of times a week. A good quality mask has the power to deeply moisturize and revive your skin. I love Fresh’s Rose Face Mask – I was given a travel sized gift from Sephora for my birthday and have been restocking ever since. This mask is deeply nourishing and luxurious.

So there you have it! These 5 tips will allow you to flawlessly apply your foundation like a pro, without the dreaded caked-on effect. Also, be sure to check out my giveaway!

Much Love,
